WLGA Policies
1. Prospective members may play for two weeks in WLGA events without paying dues and without earning points.
2. Annual dues must be paid to be eligible for prizes unless a grace period has been given by the board. Dues may be paid at any time during the year, with points accumulated from the time that dues are paid. An additional four dollars ($4.00) is required for participation in the Ringer Tournament. Additional dues must be paid to participate in the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area). To participate in the CSRA Ladies Golf Association, you must have twenty (20) posted scores. Burden and Azalea players are eligible to play in CSRA.
3. A Hole-In-One Club is available for WLGA members. Signup is on an ANNUAL basis and must be noted when completing the WLGA Registration form each year. Members can elect to join during the season by notifying the WLGA Treasurer, and club benefits will be in affect from that day forward. Each time a person gets a hole-in-one, members of this club will automatically be billed $1.00 on the next Country Club bill. This event must be witnessed and attested by another player.
4. For Thursday play, the sign-up sheet will be closed by noon on the previous Friday. If you have signed up and wish to delete your name prior to noon on Friday, please remove your name from the sign-up sheet. If you are unable to play after the sign-up has been closed, please cancel on Fore-Tees or by calling the Pro Shop (803-649-4735). As a courtesy, also notify a member of your foursome. If you decide to play after the Thursday’s tee times have been assigned, please add your name in Invited Tee Time Sign-up or call the Pro Shop.
5. Play Days:
a) The maximum number of strokes allowed for Thursday and Saturday ladies who play18 holes of golf is forty (40) regardless of the player’s handicap
b) If you play the weekly game on a Thursday, you are expected to play within the designated times set aside for ladies golf.
Normally, Saturday play is the same game on the same course as the previous Thursday play day. If there is no regular game on Thursday, or if the same course cannot be used, Saturday play will be scored separately from Thursday play. For certain Saturday events, there may be no Thursday game, and for certain Thursday events there may be no Saturday game. If the Thursday game is rained out, the Saturday game still counts; if the Saturday game is rained out, the Thursday game still counts. Follow Play Day Procedures when participating in the weekly game. On Thursday, players should declare their intent to participate or not participate in the designated game for points before teeing off on the first playable hole. If no declaration is made, it is assumed the players intention is to
d) If you play the game on both days, only your Thursday scorecard will count for the game even if you withdraw or are disqualified.
e) At times during the year, the LGA holds an event in which points are awarded. You are not eligible to win points twice in the same week. Therefore, if you do participate in the event and also sign up for the game on the other play day of the week, only your play in the event will be considered. If, however, the event does not award points, you are eligible to play both in the event and the LGA game for that week.
6. Shotguns and other events occur throughout the year. If you are signed up for, but decide not to play in an LGA play day that includes food service, you must cancel by close of business two days before the event or a fee will be charged to your club account for the food portion of the event. Remember that the shotgun/luncheons are a “package deal” and that if you play, you are obligated for the meal. You may sign up for just the meal, but not for just golf.
7. Chip-ins, birdies, eagles and holes-in-one are to be noted on a separate form at the end of play. Please sign, write the attester’s name and date the form, then place it in the Birdie and Chip-in box in the Ladies Locker Room.
8. All State, CSRA, and Woodside-sponsored stroke play events are posted as competition scores in GHIN. All State and CSRA tournaments are posted the day of the event. Team Play is match play and captains are responsible for posting each player’s score (regular play) for handicap purposes.
9. To participate in Team-Play events, players must have posted 20 scores during the previous nine months, be a current member of the CSRA WGA, and maintain a current USGA handicap index established from Woodside Tees. The Team Play Captain is responsible for monitoring players to ensure that they meet these requirements. Penalty for inadvertent breach of the rules is loss of eighteen (18) points Gross and eighteen (18) points Net per ineligible player. CSRA Team Play is determined by rank order of players’ handicap index.
10. If either an active WLGA member or their spouse dies , a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) donation will be given to a charity of the family’s choice.
11. The LGA portion of Share-the-Pot money from these specific events are to be used to supplement the cost of the Major Tournaments. The 2023 Board concluded that all the share the money will be in one LGA "pot". A conservative estimate will be made by the VP as to the amount of money we will receive from the major tournaments and shotguns each year. Then, each of the 4 majors will receive a portion of the "pot" from which they can use. In the event that the estimate" is over, we will add the monies back into the pot for payouts at the end of the year. If "the estimate is under, we will supplement by taking monies from the payout pot at the end of the year.
12. Tipping and Taxes as of 2023: Food Tipping will be $2.00 for inside staff for breakfasts / luncheons. These amounts will be added to the cost of the tournament / shotgun. Mulligan monies will be used to tip outside staff for shotguns/tournaments. The tip for a bartender for the 4 major tournaments will be $25.00. This only applies in the event that we have a separate bartender dedicated to the LGA event. It does not apply to events whereby ladies go into Mulligans for a beverage. Finally, the tax for the event will be added to the cost of the event.
13. Scoring Policy 2023 Updates:
a) 2023 change to Payouts for Points/Birdies and Chip Ins policy - It was determined that we will assign an even amount to each and will eliminate the previous policy of assigning 2/3 to Points and 1/3 to Birdies / Chip Ins. Hole in Ones and Eagles will continue to receive
2 points per event.
b) As of 2023, the WLGA will combine Burden and Azalea tee boxes into one group for weekly game play. Flighting of the entire group that played the game will be by index for weekly game points. The exception would be if there is a gross game component. In that case, there
would be separate flights per tee box and then index. T42 will continue to be looked at on a yearly basis based on the number of teams
participating and the makeup of the tee boxes. T42 may be a combination of any tee box player. Ringers is based on gross score per hole
and will remain flighted by tee box and index.
